Seollal in Korea is a time of remembrance and family. It is celebrated by visiting your family, paying respects to your ancestors, and going back to the original Korean traditions. One place that is an amazing location to go to during this holiday is the Korean Folk Village(한국민속촌).
Located in Yongin, not too far from Seoul, the Korean Folk Village has everything, from authentic restorations of real houses from the Joseon Dynasty village from each province to traditional performances to ghost houses.

Spread across the map are many different houses from different provinces and social class areas. All 270 of them have been relocated and restored to provide visitors with an authentic experience. These houses contain numerous small details that reveal aspects of the homeowners’ daily lives, such as the tools, decorations, and even the house's structure itself. Some notable locations include the Landowner’s House in the Southern Region, the Provincial Governor’s Office, the Nobleman’s Mansion in the Central Region, and the Kumryonsa Buddhist Temple—all located in the Folk Village. With many houses to walk through and sights to see, the Korean Folk Village presents a perfect opportunity to learn about Korean traditional culture in an interactive way.

Other than the Folk Village, there are also interactive elements within the location. The Korean Folk Village includes the “four seasons festival”, with festivals 365 days a year. For example, “Welcome to Joseon” runs from March to June, “A Flash of Water in the Dry Sky” from July to August, “The Ghost World” from September to November, and “A Christmas with the King” from November to March. There are also yearly performances with traditional arts, from musical instruments to farmers' music and dance to parades.

The location also has a Market Village and a Market Place with food and souvenirs. The Amusement Village is a fun place to go for families to rest after walking around the Folk Village, where Viking ships, horror house experiences, and even slow sled fields (only available in the winter) await.
As a place rich with heritage and authentic traditional experiences, the Korean Folk Village stands as one of the best places to go during Seollal for anyone of all ages. Whether it’s strolling around through the houses or engaging in traditional Korean festivities, the museum reanimates the past, allowing visitors to step into Korea’s history and experience its customs in a lively and immersive way.
