Changgyeonggung Palace is one of the main 5 palace of Joseon. It was built in 1483 by Joseon’s 9th king, Seongjong(성종).
It’s original name was Suganggung, but when Seongjong expanded it for three grandmas, he changed this palace’s name into Changgyeonggung.
A lot of kings of Joseon were born in this palace which makes it special and important.
However, during the Japanese colonial era, Japanese people harmed it and displayed animals and plants in there and opened it to public. They had degraded the name into Changgyeongwon.
After the colonial era ended, in 1983, people restored Changgyeonggung palace and found its own form again.
It now is one of the beautiful palace in Korea and became a must-visit spot for tourists.
Why don’t you pick Changgyeonggung for spring flower sightseeing? Walk across Okcheongyo(Bridge) and appreciate the wonderful look of Changgyeonggung palace and what it had overcome.
